In a significant judgment, the Additional Sessions Judge and Special Judge (Fast Track Court for Rape/POCSO cases) in Shimla has sentenced a school lecturer to six years of rigorous imprisonment in a case related to sexual harassment under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The case was registered on November 1, 2024, at Sunni Police Station under FIR No. 50/2024, invoking provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Section 10 of the POCSO Act, which pertains to aggravated sexual assault.

The accused, identified as Jai Prakash (46), also known as JP, a resident of Karyali village in Sunni, was found guilty by the court. The judge awarded him six years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹10,000.

Police officials stated that the investigation was carried out in a lawful and systematic manner, with all necessary evidence collected and presented before the court. Effective prosecution played a key role in securing the conviction.

Authorities emphasized that the identity and dignity of the victim have been strictly protected throughout the legal process.
