A 16-year-old student was allegedly gang-raped by a bus driver and conductor inside a moving sleeper bus traveling from Greater Noida to Delhi's Kashmiri Gate, police said on Tuesday.
The victim, a Class 11 student hailing from Mainpuri district, had left her home on August 3 following an argument with her mother over her studies. According to officials, she was traveling to stay with her cousin in Noida Sector-63 when she boarded the sleeper bus bound for the national capital.
The assault reportedly took place inside the vehicle in the early hours of August 4.
Following a complaint registered at the Kashmiri Gate police station, law enforcement launched a swift investigation. Both the driver and the conductor were arrested, and the sleeper bus involved in the incident has been impounded as evidence.
Police officials confirmed that further legal proceedings and investigations are currently underway to ensure strict action against the perpetrators.
