A man was shot dead by his father-in-law in Chandigarh District Court. This person had come to the court for the hearing of a divorce case. The person who shot him is a retired police officer. After being shot, he was immediately rushed to the hospital, but the doctors declared him dead. The deceased has been identified as Harpreet Singh and he was having a divorce case with his wife. Harpreet and his wife's divorce case has been going on in the court for a long time. On Saturday, both the parties came to the court for hearing. Both the parties were sent to the mediation center and counseling was going on. Harpreet Singh was an IRS officer in the Agriculture Department.
Meanwhile, former AIG officer Malvinder Singh Sidhu took his son-in-law out of the mediation center on some pretext and as soon as he came out, he shot Harpreet. Harpreet was hit by two bullets, due to which Harpreet Singh died. Police from Thana 36 has also reached the spot and former AIG Malvinder Singh Sidhu has been arrested. It is worth mentioning that Vigilance has registered a case against Malvinder Singh Sidhu. Apart from this, Sidhu has also been accused of misusing his position and threatening people by posing as a fake Vigilance officer.
