The selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar concluded its meeting at the BCCI headquarters, announcing India’s squads for the upcoming T20 series against Ireland, the white-ball tour of England, and the Asian Games scheduled for September.
In a major development, Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the new captain of India’s T20 team, replacing Suryakumar Yadav. Tilak Varma has been named vice-captain, while 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has received his maiden call-up to the senior national team.
India will face Ireland in a two-match T20I series on June 26 and June 28 before traveling to England for a limited-overs series beginning on July 1. The five-match T20I series will be played on July 1, 4, 7, 9, and 11, followed by a three-match ODI series starting on July 14 in Birmingham, with the final ODI scheduled at Lord’s, London, on July 19.
The BCCI also announced the squad for the Asian Games in Japan, where India will aim to defend its title later this year.
