Precious metal prices witnessed a sharp decline in the domestic bullion market on Friday, following a major sell-off in global markets. Silver prices plunged by ₹8,300 per kilogram in the national capital, falling to ₹1,90,200 per kg and touching their lowest level in nearly 11 months.
According to the All India Sarafa Association, silver had closed at ₹1,98,500 per kg in the previous trading session on Thursday. The metal witnessed a steep correction on Friday, bringing its price to levels last recorded on December 10, 2025, when it was quoted at ₹1.92 lakh per kg.
Gold prices also remained under pressure, with 99.9 per cent purity gold declining by ₹1,300 to ₹1,45,200 per 10 grams. In the previous trading session, gold had closed at ₹1,46,500 per 10 grams.
The sharp fall in precious metal prices comes amid weakness in international markets, triggering heavy selling in the domestic bullion market. Silver witnessed a particularly steep decline after recording a marginal gain in the previous session, while gold also extended its losses.
