Six Mohali Schools, One Ludhiana School Receive Bomb Threats; Agencies on High Alert

Security agencies swung into action on Monday after six schools in Mohali received bomb threat emails just hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Punjab. The threats prompted immediate evacuation of students and closure of the affected schools as police and bomb disposal teams began thorough searches of the premises.

One of the first schools to receive the threatening email was Shivalik Public School in Phase 6, Mohali. According to school officials, the email arrived on the institution's official email account at around 9 a.m., while the second class period was underway.

The school's coordinator said authorities were immediately informed and parents were notified to collect their children. Students using private transport were asked to be picked up as soon as possible, while those travelling by school buses were sent to their designated bus stops under supervision.

In a message sent to parents, the school stated that it was being closed with immediate effect as a precautionary measure and urged parents to cooperate in ensuring the safe return of students.

Police personnel, bomb disposal squads, and other security agencies reached the schools shortly after the alerts and launched comprehensive searches across the campuses. Officials said investigations are underway to determine the origin and authenticity of the emails.

Meanwhile, a similar bomb threat email was reported at a private school in Ludhiana, triggering another large-scale security response. The school administration immediately informed the police, and students were sent home while search operations continued in and around the campus.

The incidents come a day after pro-Khalistan activist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun released a video allegedly showing pro-Khalistan slogans written inside the sleeper coach of a train bound for Delhi, adding to heightened security concerns in the region.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any explosive devices were found, and investigations into the threat emails are ongoing.
