Panic gripped the Civil Hospital in Amritsar after a snake was spotted crawling outside the sterilisation centre, triggering fear among employees and people present on the premises.

According to information, the incident took place in the morning when hospital employees, busy with their routine work, noticed the snake crawling outside the sterilisation centre. On spotting the reptile, the staff members immediately moved away and alerted others in the vicinity.

The presence of a snake inside the hospital premises created an atmosphere of fear among employees and visitors. However, some staff members showed courage and, while taking necessary precautions, managed to move the snake out of the hospital premises safely.

The snake was reportedly light brown in colour with dark brown patches on its body. Although its species has not been officially confirmed, it is suspected to belong to the Kukri snake group.

The incident has raised questions about cleanliness and maintenance at the hospital, particularly the regular upkeep of bushes and vacant spaces within the premises.

The presence of a snake at a sensitive public healthcare facility has highlighted the need for better sanitation and preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future.
