A shocking incident was reported from Sant Nagri in Abohar on Monday, where a man allegedly killed his 75-year-old mother by striking her on the head with a pressure cooker. The accused was later overpowered by local residents and handed over to the police.

According to reports, Sunil Kumar lived with his mother, Krishna Devi, in Gali No. 1 of Sant Nagri. Neighbours claimed that Sunil was addicted to alcohol and frequently consumed liquor. On Monday afternoon, he allegedly began vandalising household property and throwing items around the house.

During the disturbance, he reportedly attacked his mother with a pressure cooker, causing a fatal head injury. Krishna Devi died on the spot due to the severe blow.

After the attack, the accused allegedly continued throwing household belongings outside the house. Hearing the commotion, residents rushed to the scene and found the elderly woman lying in a pool of blood inside the house.

locals managed to restrain Sunil, tied his hands, and informed the police.

Following the alert, Station House Officer Maninder Singh and DSP Harish Kumar arrived at the scene with a police team. The accused was taken into custody, while the victim's body was shifted to the government hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Police said further action is being taken based on the statements of the deceased's younger son, Vijay Kumar. An investigation into the incident is underway.
