Three members of a family, including a couple and their daughter, were killed, while two other children sustained serious injuries after a speeding car rammed into a bus from behind on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Dhunela village in Gurugram on Thursday morning.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the car became wedged under the rear of the bus and was mangled beyond recognition.

According to preliminary information, the car was travelling at high speed when the driver lost control near Dhunela village and crashed into the bus moving ahead. The collision left the car severely damaged and triggered panic at the accident site.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police and rescue teams rushed to the spot. A rescue operation was launched to pull the occupants out of the wreckage. The two injured children were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police initiated the process of sending the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem examinations. Traffic movement on the expressway was also disrupted for some time following the accident.

The damaged vehicles were subsequently removed from the road, allowing traffic to return to normal.

Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding and the driver losing control of the vehicle may have caused the crash. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
