Statues of Rajguru and Sukhdev to Be Installed Alongside Bhagat Singh — Anil Vij

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij paid heartfelt tributes today to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev on the occasion of Shaheed Divas. He announced that after the earlier installation of Bhagat Singh’s statue at the SDM Complex in Ambala Cantonment, statues of Rajguru and Sukhdev will soon be installed at the same site, completing the iconic “revolutionary trio.”

While interacting with media persons today, the Minister said that Martyrs’ Day (Shaheed Divas) marks the supreme sacrifice of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, who laid down their lives with courage and conviction to break the chains of colonial rule and inspire the nation with a spirit of freedom. He added that the entire nation remains indebted to their unparalleled sacrifice.

Vij said that Bhagat Singh’s statue had already been installed at the SDM Complex in Ambala Cantonment, where a large number of people gather every year on Martyrs’ Day to pay their respects. He further informed that the upcoming installation of Rajguru and Sukhdev’s statues at the same location will create a complete tribute to the three heroes, ensuring that their legacy continues to inspire future generations.

It is noteworthy that a 12-foot-tall statue of Bhagat Singh was installed at the SDM Complex through the efforts of Sh. Anil Vij and was unveiled by him in March 2024. The statue was sculpted by renowned Padma Vibhushan awardee Ram V. Sutar, known for his exceptional contributions to monumental sculpture in India.

Highlighting other initiatives, Vij said that a statue of Subhas Chandra Bose has also been installed at Subhash Park in Ambala Cantonment, where people regularly visit to pay homage. He further emphasized that many martyrs of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 had long remained unrecognized and insufficiently honored. To commemorate their sacrifices, a grand “Shaheed Smarak” is being developed over 22 acres in Ambala Cantonment. The memorial will depict various sites across the country where acts of bravery and sacrifice took place during the 1857 uprising.

The Minister added that a dedicated space within the memorial is being designed to allow visitors to offer tributes to the martyrs of 1857, ensuring that their contributions are remembered with due reverence.
