In a major anti-drug operation, the Special Task Force (STF) arrested three youths and recovered 30.672 kg of heroin from their car in Punjab’s Fazilka district. The seizure was made in Jalalabad, and officials said the contraband is worth crores of rupees in the international market.
According to the police, the accused were intercepted near Hari Krishna Cinema on the Jalalabad–Fazilka highway following specific inputs and technical intelligence received from the ANTF Ferozepur Range team.
The arrested accused have been identified as Hanspreet, Akash Singh, and Anmolpreet. Two of them are residents of Ferozepur, while the third is reportedly from village Ghulam Padhra.
Police said the heroin was recovered from a Guruhar Sahai-registered car. The accused, aged between 20 and 25 years, will be produced before a court, after which the police will seek custodial remand to interrogate them about the source of the narcotics and the intended destination for its supply.
Investigators are also examining whether the accused have any previous criminal record. Following the large seizure, police have launched a broader investigation to trace the entire drug trafficking network linked to the consignment.
Officials described the operation as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown against narcotics in Punjab.
