The Indian stock market continued to trade lower on Wednesday, October 8, with benchmark indices witnessing sharp declines amid selling pressure.
The Sensex was down around 400 points at 72,200, while the Nifty declined by more than 100 points to trade near 22,450. Metal and realty stocks were among the major laggards, witnessing increased selling pressure.
The decline comes a day after the market also closed lower on Tuesday, October 7. The Sensex fell 429 points to close at 72,639, while the Nifty declined nearly 173 points to end at 22,603.
With both benchmark indices extending their losses, investors remained cautious during Wednesday’s trading session.
