Himachal Pradesh government will organise block-level Jan Samvad (public dialogue) programs across the state on August 6, 7 and 8 under its flagship “Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana”. The programs will be chaired by MLAs of the respective Assembly constituencies, and the poorest families identified by the Rural Development Department will be invited to participate.
Chairing a review meeting of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that a cluster of up to 10 gram panchayats would be formed for each program. The discussions will focus on the social and economic conditions of poor families, their access to government welfare schemes, and their immediate needs.
Chief Minister said that after an eight-phase detailed survey, the department had identified nearly 1.78 lakh extremely poor families in the state. Of these, around 85,000 families had never been included in the BPL list and had not received benefits under any state welfare scheme.
He added that the government would use the suggestions and feedback received during the Jan Samvad programs to design targeted welfare schemes and ensure their effective implementation so that eligible families receive government assistance on time.
Sukhu said that the “Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana” was announced in the current financial year’s Budget and is now being implemented on the ground. The scheme aims to strengthen the economic condition of poor families, improve their standard of living, and accelerate the state’s overall development.
