A 15-year-old boy was allegedly murdered in Chandigarh's Mauli Jagran area late Monday night, marking the second killing in the locality within 24 hours and raising fresh concerns over law and order.
The victim, identified as Amit, a resident of Sunder Nagar in Mauli Jagran Part-2, was attacked inside Sunder Nagar Park following an argument. According to police, three youths allegedly assaulted him with a sharp-edged punch weapon and fled the scene.
Amit sustained a severe injury behind his ear and collapsed on the spot. After receiving information about the incident, police from Mauli Jagran Police Station rushed to the park and shifted him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The murder comes just a day after 26-year-old Ashish was fatally stabbed at Fauji Park on Sunday night. Two murders in less than 24 hours have triggered panic among residents and intensified concerns over public safety in the area.
Locals have alleged that anti-social activities have been increasing in Mauli Jagran, leaving residents feeling unsafe. Police have launched an investigation and are working to identify and apprehend the three accused involved in the latest killing.
