A Central Reserve Police Force jawan was martyred in an attack by armed miscreants on a joint team of CRPF and state police in Jiribam, Manipur. Three more jawans are injured in this attack. According to officials, unidentified armed men targeted a team of CRPF and 20th Battalion of Manipur Police at around 9:40 am. The attack comes at a time when the security situation remains critical amid ethnic violence that started in May 2023. The incident took place when the joint security team was approaching near Monbung village to conduct a search operation related to the firing incident on Saturday. The slain CRPF jawan has been identified as Ajay Kumar Jha, 43, from Bihar. Officials said that the three injured personnel also included a sub-inspector (SI) of Jiribam police station.
