Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received a major political boost in the Baba Bakala Assembly constituency as former Shiromani Akali Dal leader and three-time MLA Ranjit Singh Chhajjalwaddi joined the party along with his son, Satinderjit Singh Chhajjalwaddi. The two were formally inducted into AAP by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s OSD, Rajbir Singh Ghuman.

Welcoming the leaders into the party, Ghuman said the induction of the Chhajjalwaddi family would strengthen AAP’s organisational base in Baba Bakala and adjoining areas. He added that the Punjab Government’s development initiatives and people-centric policies were encouraging both political leaders and ordinary citizens to join the party.

Satinderjit Singh Chhajjalwaddi was serving as the constituency in-charge of Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) and had contested the 2022 Assembly elections from the Jandiala Guru constituency. The Chhajjalwaddi family has long maintained a strong political presence in Baba Bakala and remains closely connected with local residents.
