Gharinda police have arrested two alleged arms smugglers and recovered six pistols and 10 magazines from their possession. The accused have been identified as Captainpreet Singh alias Sandhu, son of Harpal Singh, and Arshdeep Singh, son of Bangicha Singh, both residents of Bhakna village.
According to police, a case was registered at Gharinda Police Station on August 16, 2026, under Sections 25(8), 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.
Arrest Based on Informer's Tip
Police said ASI Jagtar Singh, along with a CIA Staff team, was patrolling near Raj Palace on the GT Road in Attari while conducting checks for suspicious persons. During the patrol, an informer allegedly told the police that Captainpreet Singh and Arshdeep Singh were bringing weapons and ammunition from Pakistan and supplying them in the area.
The informer further said that the two suspects were travelling from Rampura village towards Amritsar on a black Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle and were allegedly on their way to deliver a consignment of weapons.
Acting on the information, police set up a checkpoint and intercepted the two suspects. A search allegedly led to the recovery of six .30-bore pistols and 10 magazines.
Motorcycle Also Seized
Along with the weapons, police also seized the black Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle allegedly used by the accused.
Following the recovery, a case was registered under the relevant provisions of the Arms Act, and further investigation has been initiated to determine the source of the weapons, their intended recipients and the alleged network involved in the arms supply.
