Chandigarh Police have arrested two youths, including an alleged associate of gangster Lucky Patial, after recovering spring-operated knives from their possession during a search operation in the city. The accused have been identified as Golu and Jimmy Bansal.
A case has been registered against both accused under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act at Sector-34 South Police Station.
According to police, Congress leader and advocate Ujjwal Bhasin informed the police control room through the 112 emergency helpline after spotting two suspicious youths sitting inside a black Hyundai Venue near the wall of a community centre close to his residence.
Bhasin told police that he had received threats in the past, which made him suspicious of the duo, prompting him to immediately alert the authorities.
Following the information, ASI Narendra and his police team reached the spot and inspected the black Venue parked behind the Sector-44B Community Centre. During the search, police recovered one spring-operated knife each from the left pockets of both suspects.
During questioning, the youth sitting in the driver’s seat identified himself as Golu, a resident of Burail Sector-45, while the second accused sitting in the rear seat was identified as Jimmy Bansal, also a resident of Burail Sector-45.
