Chaos broke out during the Khanna Municipal Council elections in Ward No. 5 after several voters claimed their names were missing from the electoral rolls. Angry residents gathered outside the polling booth and staged a protest after being denied the right to vote.

The situation intensified when former Punjab minister Gurkirat Singh Kotli reached the spot in support of the protesters and joined the sit-in demonstration.

According to the protesters, voter slips had been delivered to their homes before the elections, clearly mentioning Ward No. 5 as their polling location. However, upon arriving at the booth, many were informed that their names were not present in the voter list or that their votes had been shifted to another polling station.

Residents alleged that more than 200 votes had been removed from the ward, leaving several families unable to exercise their democratic rights. Calling it a serious administrative lapse, the protesters demanded an immediate inquiry into the matter and strict action against those responsible.
