US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra on Monday along with his wife Jeanette D. Rubio as part of his ongoing India tour. US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor also accompanied the couple during the visit.
Rubio’s India visit includes stops in several major cities, including Kolkata, New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Before arriving in Agra, he visited Kolkata and later traveled to Delhi for high-level diplomatic engagements.
Currently, Rubio is handling two key responsibilities in the US administration — serving as the Secretary of State as well as the Acting National Security Advisor. His four-day India visit is focused on strengthening cooperation between India and the United States in areas such as trade, energy security and defence ties.
