The weather continues to remain unstable across several parts of Himachal Pradesh, even as the Meteorological Department has predicted mainly dry conditions on May 9 and 10. Light clouds were seen hovering over the state capital Shimla on Saturday.
According to official data, several areas of the state received rainfall during the past 24 hours. Sarahan recorded 25.7 mm rain, followed by Khadrala with 14 mm and Rohru with 10 mm rainfall. Other areas including Rampur, Chopal, Chamba, Kotkhai, Kufri and Kalpa also witnessed light showers.
Rain Likely From May 11 to 15
The Meteorological Centre in Shimla said a fresh western disturbance is likely to become active from May 10, increasing the chances of rainfall across the state. Light to moderate rain is expected in some areas on May 11, while many regions may witness similar weather conditions on May 12 and 13. Rain activity is also likely to continue in isolated areas on May 14 and 15.
An orange alert has been issued for May 12 and 13 in the districts of Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Shimla due to the possibility of heavy hailstorms and strong winds blowing at speeds of 40-50 kmph.
