Weather Takes a Sudden Turn Across North India: Rain, Hail, and Snowfall Alert in Multiple States

Punjab Newsline,National:

Hailstorm likely in Rajasthan-MP, waterlogging in Haryana, snowfall increases cold in Uttarakhand and Himachal

The weather across northern and central parts of India has suddenly changed, bringing rain, strong winds, and hailstorms to several states. Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh are expected to experience similar conditions over the next few days.

In Rajasthan, dense clouds have been hovering since late Wednesday night in several cities, including Jaipur. According to the Meteorological Department, rain and hailstorms are likely to continue until March 20. Due to cold winds, temperatures have dropped by 2 to 9 degrees Celsius, bringing relief from heat but increasing the chill.

Meanwhile, weather activity has intensified in Madhya Pradesh as well. Alerts for thunderstorms and rain have been issued in 33 districts, including Bhopal, Indore, and Gwalior. Hailstorms are also expected in three districts. The department has predicted strong winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 50 km/h over the next three days, which may disrupt normal life.

In Haryana, heavy rain accompanied by hail hit Rewari late at night, leading to waterlogging on roads. Strong winds uprooted hoardings in several areas. The rainfall has caused a drop in daytime temperatures, which are expected to fall further by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

The impact of the changing weather is also visible in the hill states. Snowfall has been reported in higher-altitude regions of Uttarakhand, including Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Pithoragarh. Similarly, in Himachal Pradesh, districts like Shimla, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Chamba are likely to witness heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and hail.

The Meteorological Department has advised people to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel, as adverse weather conditions may affect transportation and daily life.
