The weather in Himachal Pradesh is set to change once again as a western disturbance becomes active over the region. According to the Meteorological Department, several parts of the state are likely to witness changing weather conditions over the next five days, with its impact expected to continue until May 23.
As per the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, light rainfall is likely at isolated places across the state on May 19, 20, and 21. In higher altitude areas, there is also a possibility of light snowfall. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall has been forecast for some regions on May 22 and 23, which may keep the weather relatively cool.
A yellow alert has been issued for strong winds in parts of Chamba, Kangra, and Kullu districts. Wind speeds are expected to reach 30 to 40 km per hour in these areas. Residents, especially those in hilly regions and farmers, have been advised to remain cautious and take necessary precautions.
Regarding temperatures, the department stated that minimum temperatures across many parts of the state may rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next four to five days. Maximum temperatures are also expected to increase gradually by 2 to 5 degrees Celsius. However, intermittent cloud cover and rainfall may cause slight fluctuations in some areas.
On Sunday, most parts of the state, including Shimla, witnessed clear weather. However, with the approaching western disturbance, a noticeable shift in weather conditions is expected in the coming days. The Meteorological Department has urged people to stay updated with weather forecasts and avoid unnecessary travel during adverse conditions.
