The alleged brutal attack on a six-year-old KG student by an eight-year-old Class 3 student at a government school in Panchkula has raised serious concerns, with the victim's family making allegations about the accused child's addiction to violent online games like PUBG. However, the exact motive behind the incident is yet to be established by the police.
According to the victim's uncle, the two children did not know each other before the incident. He alleged that the boy became furious after the girl called him "mad". The accused child subsequently told the girl that her father had arrived and allegedly lured her into an empty room before attacking her.
The victim's family suspects that the boy's alleged addiction to violent online games and excessive exposure to digital content may have influenced his behaviour. The family has raised concerns over possible digital addiction and its impact on children. However, no link between online gaming and the incident has been established so far.
Meanwhile, police and the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) are conducting a psychological evaluation and mind-mapping test of the accused child to understand his behaviour and determine the possible reasons behind the attack.
In the aftermath of the incident, the school administration, principal and two Junior Basic Training (JBT) teachers have been suspended over alleged negligence. An FIR has also been registered in connection with the case.
Meanwhile, PGIMER Director Professor Vivek Lal visited the hospital to enquire about the girl's health and interacted with the team of doctors treating her. He assured the family that the child's entire treatment at the institute would be provided free of cost.
The girl's health condition is reportedly improving, and she is now out of danger. Medical teams are continuing to monitor her recovery.
