AAP Government Is Waging a War Against Drugs; No One Is Above the Law: Aman Arora

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh-

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab said that the AAP government is waging a war against drugs and no individual is above the law. Addressing the media, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated, "Punjab is witnessing an unprecedented war against drugs. This government is fighting a battle against those who, for decades, profited from the drug trade under the Akali Dal-BJP and Congress regimes. No matter how influential a person is, if they are involved in drug-related activities, they will face the law."

Cheema further highlighted that the people of Punjab, fed up with the drug crisis, entrusted the AAP government with their votes in 2022 to tackle this menace. “The citizens of Punjab have seen enough of the failures of previous regimes. Our government has launched this battle to ensure no drug trafficker, big or small, escapes justice. This fight is for the future of Punjab,” he added.

In a separate statement, Punjab Minister Aman Arora refuted allegations of political vendetta in the government’s anti-drug campaign. He said that all actions are taken strictly based on evidence and legal procedure. “Claims of vendetta are baseless. If vigilance or police receive a complaint, they act accordingly. The law operates independently, and no one needs to worry if they are innocent. The Punjab government is not engaging in political witch hunting but is focused on ensuring justice,” said Arora.

The AAP government has consistently maintained that its actions are guided by its commitment to fulfilling the mandate given by the people. Highlighting the government's achievements, Arora reiterated, “This is not about politics; it’s about justice. The people of Punjab voted for change, and we are delivering on our promise to end the drug menace that has plagued the state for years.”
