A woman has been arrested for allegedly desecrating the Gutka Sahib at Shri Guru Ravidas Gurdwara Sahib in Sagwal village of Jalandhar, triggering outrage among local residents.
According to village Sarpanch Praveen Kumari, the woman entered the gurdwara and began clapping loudly, frightening the children present inside. She then allegedly picked up the Gutka Sahib and tore several pages from the holy scripture.
The children immediately informed villagers about the incident, following which locals detained the woman and handed her over to the police.
The Sarpanch further said that the woman had never been seen in the village before. When questioned by residents, she reportedly responded in a different language, raising further suspicion. The villagers then informed the police, who took her into custody.
Kishangarh police outpost in-charge Kuldeep said that a case has been registered against the accused, identified as Radhika, based on the statement of the head granthi. Police have arrested the woman and launched an investigation into the incident.
