A heartbreaking incident was reported on Wednesday from Sultanpur Lodhi, where a woman allegedly jumped into the Kali Bein river along with her two young sons. While passersby managed to rescue the woman in time, both children tragically drowned.
The deceased have been identified as Veer Pratap Singh (6) and Gur Pratap Singh (3), sons of Simran Kaur, wife of Bharpoor Singh, residents of village Adalat Chak. According to initial information, Simran Kaur was reportedly under mental stress and had taken her children to the river before jumping in. It is also learned that one of the children had just been brought back from school shortly before the incident.
Eyewitnesses present at the spot reacted quickly and pulled the woman out of the water. However, despite their efforts, the children could not be saved.
Police from Sultanpur Lodhi reached the scene after being informed and have taken the bodies into custody. The bodies have been kept at the Civil Hospital mortuary for further procedures. Investigating officer ASI Baldev Singh stated that a thorough probe has been initiated, and all angles are being examined.
