Camps to be held in all districts; Women to be encouraged for blood donation and health awareness

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh–

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, women blood donation camps will be organised on March 8 in all districts of Haryana under a special initiative dedicated to women empowerment. These camps will be organised under the supervision of the Haryana State Blood Transfusion Council and the Health Department, Haryana, at all licensed blood centres, district civil hospitals, and private blood centres across the state.

Project Director, Haryana State Blood Transfusion Council, Dr. Mukta Kumar sharing information in this regard said that participation of women will be ensured in these blood donation camps. Blood donation is considered a noble act, and one unit of blood can help save the life of a person in need. This campaign being organised on Women’s Day will convey a message of social service and humanity.

She said that is the first unique initiative of its kind at the state level, aimed at empowering women to engage in social service as well as health awareness. This campaign will be an important step towards strengthening the resolve of “Healthy Woman – Healthy Family.” During these blood donation camps, women’s health will also be checked. Hemoglobin testing and general health check-ups will be conducted for women. The hemoglobin level of a woman blood donor should be 12.5 or above.

She appealed to all eligible women to voluntarily participate in blood donation and make this life-saving campaign successful.
