CIA-2 team in Yamunanagar has arrested two more accused in connection with the murder of 62-year-old transporter Harbhajan Singh, who was shot dead outside Jack Fitness Gym in Model Town on September 3.
The arrested accused have been identified as Rusheel Nanda, a resident of Kartarpura in Yamunanagar city, and his mother Sunita Devi. The two are reportedly mother and son.
According to the investigation, Rusheel's brother Garvish Nanda, who lives abroad, is a friend of notorious gangster Noni Rana, the brother of gangster Kala Rana.
Police have found that Garvish allegedly transferred a substantial amount of money to the joint bank account of Rusheel and Sunita. The money was subsequently allegedly handed over to the criminals involved in carrying out the murder. Investigators have so far found evidence of a ₹50,000 transaction linked to the case.
Several Accused Already Arrested
The CIA-2 team has already arrested several people in connection with the case.
On September 10, Aryan alias Nani, a resident of Kurukshetra, and Rakesh were arrested after an encounter near Chhoti Pabni. Police said the two had opened fire at the police team and were subsequently apprehended after being shot.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed that they had provided weapons and ammunition to the shooters.
Police said Vishal had arranged a motorcycle for the shooters, while Kishan allegedly installed a GPS tracking device in Harbhajan Singh's car and provided his location to the accused.
Manish, a resident of Karnal, allegedly supplied photographs of Harbhajan Singh's car and house to the criminals.
The shooters involved in the killing are still absconding, and police teams are continuing efforts to trace and arrest them.
