A young motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Ludhiana late on Friday night in what police suspect to be a hit-and-run case. The accident took place outside the Civil Surgeon’s office.
The deceased has been identified as Lovepreet Singh, a resident of Pratap Singh Wala area on Hambra Road. He was the son of Sajan Singh.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 12:30 am when Lovepreet was returning home on his motorcycle after finishing work. An unidentified speeding vehicle allegedly hit him and fled the spot immediately after the collision.
On receiving information about the incident, police reached the scene and took the body into custody. It was later sent to the Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, where it has been kept in the mortuary for post-mortem examination.
The victim’s family has been informed, and the news of the young man’s death has left relatives and local residents in deep shock and mourning.
Police officials said that after the post-mortem formalities are completed, the body will be handed over to the family for the last rites. Investigators are also examining CCTV footage from the accident site and nearby areas to identify the vehicle involved and trace the driver responsible for the fatal collision.
