A 25-year-old man was seriously injured after unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire at him in Sardullapur village of Sultanpur Lodhi late Sunday night.
The injured man has been identified as Sukhdeep Singh. According to his family, the attackers arrived in a black vehicle and fired at him before fleeing the spot. One bullet hit Sukhdeep on the left side of his face, leaving him critically injured.
He was initially rushed to Civil Hospital, Sultanpur Lodhi. Due to the seriousness of his condition, doctors referred him to Civil Hospital, Kapurthala, for further treatment.
Following the incident, police reached the spot and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from cameras installed in and around the area is being examined to identify the attackers and establish the sequence of events.
Sukhdeep's brother claimed that an attempt had allegedly been made to attack him earlier as well. Police are currently investigating all possible angles and conducting searches to trace the suspects.
Kabirpur police station SHO SI Malkit Singh confirmed the firing incident and said CCTV footage from the surrounding area was being scrutinised. He expressed confidence that the case would be traced soon.
