Department of Future to formulate long-term strategies focused on growth diversification in high-value sectors

The Haryana Government has established the 'Department of Future' with the aim of implementing Vision 2047, powered by Artificial Intelligence and skill development. This department will regularly conduct horizon scanning, trend analysis, and scenario planning to identify potential future challenges and opportunities for the state. It will also formulate comprehensive long-term strategies focused on growth diversification in high-value sectors under Vision 2047.
A notification regarding this has been issued by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi under the Haryana Government (Allocation) Rules, 1974. The department will also oversee 'Mission Haryana-2047', aimed at increasing the state's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to $1 trillion and achieving employment targets within the state.
Additionally, it will develop and coordinate technology and innovation policies for adopting emerging technologies across various sectors. It will monitor and coordinate governance modernization initiatives, including the digital transformation of administrative processes. The department will also coordinate with other administrative departments for the implementation of forward-looking policies and initiatives.
To align with future workforce needs, the department will establish an integrated framework for human capital development. It will especially focus on developing strategies for the sustainable management of water, energy, and agricultural resources. A monitoring mechanism will also be established to assess the progress of strategic initiatives across departments. Furthermore, the department will work on rural-urban integration and formulate a migration management plan for the state.
