Chairman of the Haryana State Higher Education Council, Dr. KC Sharma, speaking as the chief guest at a workshop organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa, on the National Education Policy 2020, said that educational institutions channelize the energy of youth through quality education. Along with preparing students for employment, it is also the responsibility of Indian universities to inculcate human values within them. The National Education Policy also emphasizes these values. To realize the dream of a developed India, more attention must be paid to quality education.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Sharma said that a teacher is not just for students but also an ideal for society and plays a vital role in its nation-building. Talking about NEP, he explained that it covers the subject matter from the foundation stage to the postgraduate stage, which will be achieved in a phased manner with the collaboration of all stakeholders. This will help achieve the goal of a developed India by 2047.
He emphasized the necessity of research aptitude among researchers and teachers and motivated them to conduct better research with several notable examples. Dr. Sharma urged researchers to publish their research papers in high-impact research journals. He also shed light on the importance of pedagogy in the field of teaching.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor, Chaudhary Devi Lal University Sirsa, Professor Ajmer Singh Malik, said that NEP focuses on student-centricity as well as experiential learning. He stated that those aspiring to enter the teaching profession must remain lifelong learners. A good teacher is capable of generating interest in the subject among students and is an expert in his subject.
