World champion Neeraj Chopra won gold medal with his best throw at 85.97m in the men's javelin throw competition at the Paavo Nurmi Games 2024 athletics meet in Turku, Finland on Tuesday.
With a powerful throw in his first attempt, Neeraj Chopra was leading at 83.62m. However, the champion faced a small setback as he trailed behind Oliver Helander who took the lead with an effort of 83.95m.
However, the disappointment was not for long as the world champion returned with 85.97m throw in his third attempt and was leading the fray again. Chopra in his fourth attempt pulled 82.21m throw. Chopra's fifth attempt was not recorded.
Leading to the Olympics 2024, Neeraj started his season at the Doha Diamond League on May 11 and ended in second place with a throw of 88.36m.
