Under the leadership of Punjab Mandi Board’s Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat, the Punjab Mandi Board is making special efforts to develop a sports culture in the state, ensure a bright future for children, and eradicate drugs.

Expressing happiness, Barsat said that during the off-season, training for various sports has started in Punjab's markets. Skating training is being provided at Rampura Phul and basketball training at Sultanpur Lodhi. Similarly, a basketball ground and badminton court have been inaugurated at Malout and Sri Muktsar Sahib, respectively, and matches have been organized for players, with medals awarded to the winning players. He expressed hope that these children will perform well in national and international competitions, bringing glory to Punjab, the country and their parents.
He said that large cover sheds have been built in Punjab's markets, which are only used during the paddy and wheat seasons. To encourage children towards sports, a plan was made to utilize these cover sheds for sports training during the off-season. The plan has been implemented, and sports training has started in the markets.
