Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, in his address during the budget session in the Vidhan Sabha, stated that the word “Nari” (woman) is synonymous with “Shakti” (power). There is no task in social life that is impossible for them. From science and technology to education, politics to sports, medicine to social service, women are creating history in every field on the strength of their hard work and talent.
Addressing the members, the Governor said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” program from Panipat in 2015 to express the government’s commitment to saving and educating girls. Due to the concrete efforts of the government, the gender ratio at birth has improved significantly in Haryana today.
He said that the average response time of Police Emergency Response Vehicles under the Dial-112 emergency response support system has been reduced to 7 minutes and 37 seconds. The ‘Trip Monitoring Service’ has been launched through Dial 112. Any woman who feels unsafe during her journey can get her journey monitored through Dial-112.
The Governor said that the state government is making efforts to increase the number of women police personnel in Haryana Police from 10 to 15 percent. By providing 50 percent representation in Panchayati Raj Institutions, the active participation of women in rural development has been ensured. To empower them economically, the government has formed 51 thousand self-help groups and providing them financial assistance through the ‘Haryana State Rural Livelihood’ Mission and has given the operation of 151 Vita sales centres in the hands of women. The state government has decided that 33 percent of the ration depots to be allotted in the future will be given to women.
