A tragic incident has been reported from Hoshiarpur where a 3-year-old boy fell into a 100-foot-deep borewell while playing and got stuck at around 90 feet depth. According to officials, water is present at the spot where the child is trapped.
Initial visuals from a camera inserted into the borewell reportedly showed movement of the child, confirming he is alive but frightened and crying.
Authorities have launched an extensive rescue operation at the site. Four JCB machines have been deployed for digging alongside the borewell to create an alternative access route. Senior police officer SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik has reached the location to supervise the operation.
Teams from the fire department, ambulance services, doctors, and rescue agencies including National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are actively working on the rescue efforts.
Locals said the child fell straight into the borewell and movement inside has been continuously detected, raising hopes that he can be rescued safely. Volunteers from the social organization Baba Deep Singh Seva Dal are also assisting the administration in the ongoing operation.
The rescue mission is currently in progress, and authorities are working on a war footing to safely bring the child out.
