Along with Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is gaining strength in Chandigarh too. The AAP gave Akali Dal another setback when Shiromani Akali Dal's candidate from Chandigarh for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Hardeep Singh Buterla, along with hundreds of his supporters, left the Akali Dal and joined AAP.
On Thursday, Aam Aadmi Party Punjab President and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann formally inducted Hardeep Singh Buterla and all his associates into the party and welcomed them into the AAP family.
Hardeep Singh Buterla has been an MC from Chandigarh thrice. He has also been the senior deputy mayor of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. Due to his strong hold among the people of Chandigarh, the Akali Dal had declared him as its candidate for the Lok Sabha elections this time. Him leaving the party is surely a big loss to the Akali Dal.
After joining the Aam Aadmi Party, Buterla thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for making him a part of the AAP family. He said that the works of the Mann government in the last two years and public welfare policies of Bhagwant Mann inspired him to join the Aam Aadmi party.
He added that today he sat with chief minister Bhagwant Mann and discussed many things. CM Mann has a big vision for the development of Punjab. His vision is taking Punjab forward. My supporters and I are honoured to be part of a political party which is doing such positive and progressive work for Chandigarh. He said with the guidance of CM Bhagwant Mann, we will work for the people of Chandigarh.
