Shiromani Akali Dal patron Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa has rejected the decision of the Shiromani Akali Dal's Disciplinary Committee to expel eight senior leaders from the party yesterday. He said that only the working committee has the right to expel. Along with this, Dhindsa has announced that a new structure of the party will be prepared by calling a meeting of representatives soon.
Dhindsa said that there are reports of violation of the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib by Sukhbir Singh Badal in the case of Dera Sirsa chief. For this, Sukhbir Badal has no right to remain the president of the party. He said that although Sukhbir Badal is still on the post of party president. Dhindsa claimed that the party and the people have completely lost faith and the party has become leaderless in a way. He decided that a delegate session of the Akali Dal should be called and new office bearers including the party president should be elected so that a new life can be infused into the party. He said that he would soon consult with senior party leaders and a decision would be taken about the time and place of the session.
Dhindsa said that the decision of the party's disciplinary committee is completely against the party's constitution and traditions. He said that the disciplinary committee can only make recommendations to the working committee or the party president. Before the action, no meeting of the committee was called and no notice was given to the leaders who were to be expelled. Dhindsa said that the Shiromani Akali Dal came into existence for the political expression of the entire Sikh community and to achieve political goals. Dhindsa said that the second Shiromani Akali Dal is now coming out of a very serious crisis. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Convener Gurpratap Singh Wadala, Bibi Jagir Kaur, Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Surjit Singh Rakhra, Charanjit Singh Brar, Surinder Singh Bhulewal Ratha, Baldev Singh Mann, Gaganjit Singh Barnala, Sucha Singh Chotepur, Colonel Singh Panjoli, Justice Nirmal Singh, Harinderpal Singh Tohra, Bibi Paramjit Kaur Landra, Randhir Singh Rakhra, former MLA Sukhwinder Singh Aulakh, Amarinder Singh Libra, Tajinderpal Singh Sandhu, Bibi Paramjit Kaur Gulshan, Surinder Kaur Dayal, Satwinder Singh Tohra etc were also present.
