Amritsar–Katra Vande Bharat Express has resumed operations after a gap of nearly seven months. The service was flagged off today at Amritsar Railway Station by Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu.
The train, which had been operated earlier as well, has been relaunched following a change in its route alignment. Under the revised schedule, the train will no longer run via Beas and Jalandhar. Instead, it will now pass through Batala, Gurdaspur, and Pathankot, offering improved connectivity to these regions before reaching Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
Revised Route and Timings
Train number 26405 will depart from Amritsar at 4:40 PM. It will reach Batala at 5:18 PM, Gurdaspur at 5:58 PM, Pathankot at 6:32 PM, and Jammu Tawi at 8:03 PM, before arriving at Katra at 9:45 PM.
On the return journey, train number 26406 will leave Katra at 6:40 AM and reach Amritsar Railway Station at 11:40 AM.
Updated Weekly Schedule
According to railway authorities, the service earlier did not operate on Tuesdays. Under the new timetable, the train will now remain non-operational on Saturdays instead.
The revised route and schedule are aimed at improving passenger convenience and strengthening rail connectivity between Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir.
