Young Indian squash star says playing at the 2028 Olympics will be the biggest moment of her career

India’s young squash sensation Anahat Singh is aiming to continue her remarkable form after finishing last season with an impressive 77-10 win-loss record. Despite the extraordinary achievement, the teenager says she is still surprised by the numbers and prefers to focus only on improving her game rather than thinking about records.

Speaking at the Sports Journalists Federation of India Golden Jubilee National Convention 2026, Anahat said the upcoming two seasons will be crucial for her career as she prepares for the 2028 Summer Olympics. The Los Angeles Games will mark the first time squash is included in the Olympic programme, and representing India at such a historic event would be a dream come true for the young athlete.

Anahat has already represented India at major international tournaments, including the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games. According to her, these competitions have been some of the most memorable experiences of her life. She believes the exposure and experience gained from these prestigious events will help her perform better when she eventually competes at the Olympic Games.

Reflecting on her outstanding 2025 season, Anahat said she never focused on the numbers behind her success. Instead, she concentrated on daily practice and giving her best on the court. Hearing about her impressive win-loss record, she added, feels like a bonus and motivates her to keep improving.

The young player also credited India’s senior squash stars for inspiring her and helping her grow in the sport. She mentioned experienced players such as Joshna Chinappa, Dipika Pallikal and Saurav Ghoshal as important mentors. Spending time with them, both on and off the court, has helped her learn valuable lessons about the game and professional sports.

Anahat further expressed gratitude for the support she has received from corporates, the government, medical teams and the entire country. She said playing for India is a special feeling and hopes to repay the faith shown in her by winning medals at major international events and making the nation proud.
