No employment survey has been conducted in Pakistan after the 2020-21 Labor Force Survey, according to which the total labor force is 71.8 million - 48.5 million in rural areas and 23.3 million in urban areas. The employed labor force is 67.3 million: 45.7 million rural and 21.5 million urban, while 4.5 million are unemployed. The unemployment ratio is higher among women, with 14.4 per cent women unemployed while 10 per cent are men, reports Dawn.

According to the Economic Survey report, during FY24, Pakistan's economy recorded a moderate recovery with GDP growth of 2.38 per cent as against a contraction of 0.21 per cent in the previous year. Agriculture emerged as the main driver of economic growth, recording a growth of 6.25 per cent on the back of double-digit growth in the production of major crops. The target of 3.5% was missed and this was due to the poor performance of industries and services sector.
