India lost one of its most distinguished leaders as former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday evening at AIIMS, Delhi. He was 92. Dr. Singh, known for his landmark contributions to India's economic and political landscape, succumbed to age-related health issues. The nation has been united in mourning his demise, with tributes pouring in from across the political spectrum.
Dr. Singh reportedly suffered a sudden loss of consciousness at home before being rushed to AIIMS. Despite immediate resuscitative efforts, he was declared dead at 9:51 PM.
Senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, visited to pay their respects. Arrangements have been made for the public to bid farewell before the final rites on Saturday, which will be held with full state honours.
Rahul Gandhi, expressing grief on X, said, "Manmohan Singh Ji led India with immense wisdom and integrity. His humility and deep understanding of economics inspired the nation. My heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Kaur and the family. I have lost a mentor and guide."
