A devastating collision between a dumper and a trailer on the Isharwal–Tosham road in Haryana's Jhajjar district triggered a massive fire on Monday afternoon, killing the trailer driver after he was trapped inside the burning cabin.
Accident occurred at around 2:30 pm near Rodha Mod when the trailer, travelling from Loharu towards Isharwal, collided head-on with a dumper heading in the opposite direction. According to preliminary reports, the trailer was carrying maize loaded from Chhara Mandi near Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, and was on its way to Isharwal.
Police said the trailer was allegedly travelling at a high speed, and the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, leading to the crash. The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire.
The trailer driver, identified as 40-year-old Munnaram from Rajasthan, was trapped inside the cabin and was burned alive. He is survived by his wife and two children.
The dumper driver, who had just unloaded construction material from a road project near Madhan, was rescued by nearby shopkeepers after a strenuous effort. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance.
Following the incident, DSP Dalip Singh and police teams reached the spot. Teams from the Haryana Disaster Response Force (HDRF) and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) were also called in to recover the charred body and assist in the investigation.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, with overspeeding suspected to be a major factor.
