Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that from 2004 to 2014, FIRs in cases of oppression of Scheduled Castes were not registered and even if they were registered, they were kept suppressed. At that time people used to wander around to lodge FIR. After our government came to power, we issued instructions that whoever comes to the police station to file an FIR, his FIR must be registered. The Chief Minister was replying to a question asked by MLA Varun Chaudhary during the Question Hour during the winter session of the Haryana Assembly here today.
CM said that during the previous government, the House should also get information about how many of the cases registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 were withdrawn, how many were compromised and how many were cancelled.
He said that during internecine conflicts, some people file cases using the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, but when the state government constituted the Scheduled Castes Commission, the Commission was empowered to study these cases. Asked for. The Commission also found that most of the cases were registered on general disputes. Therefore, it should not be assumed that crime will increase due to increase in the number of FIRs.
He said that every FIR is being registered in our government, common people now do not face any problem in registering FIR.
