A gym owner was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants in a brazen attack around 5:30 am on Thursday morning near Fountain Chowk in Hansi.
According to information, the attackers opened fire within seconds and discharged nearly 10 rounds at Kapil, the gym operator, hitting him multiple times in the head and back. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
At the time of the incident, Kapil was conducting morning warm-up exercises for youngsters on a shop ramp near Kapil Chowk. The attackers, wearing helmets, arrived on a motorcycle and unleashed indiscriminate firing before escaping from the scene.
During the firing, a woman named Shikha, who was also present for morning exercise, sustained injury from bullet shrapnel. She has been admitted to a private hospital in Hisar and is undergoing treatment.
CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, clearly capturing the movements of the attackers. Police reached the spot immediately after receiving information and cordoned off the area to begin investigation. A CIA team along with forensic experts has also been called in to examine the crime scene.
Preliminary reports suggest that the deceased Kapil originally hailed from Dalmalwala village in Jind and had been running a gym in Hansi for several years. He had reportedly entered into a love marriage just a few days ago.
Police are investigating all angles, while efforts are underway to identify and trace the attackers.
