Punjab State Information Commissioner Harpreet Sandhu on Monday visited the headquarters of the Western Command at Chandimandir and paid a courtesy call on General Officer Commanding (GOC) Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, AVSM, SM.
During the high-level meeting, the two discussed India’s rich military heritage, its glorious history and the deep-rooted relationship between the Indian Army and Punjab.
Sandhu presented Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh with his special artwork, “Peacock – The Glory of India,” which reflects the country’s distinctive cultural identity. He also gifted his coffee table book, “Sukhna Lake at Dawn,” a special publication dedicated to Chandigarh’s architecture, natural beauty and cultural heritage, commemorating the city’s 75th anniversary.
Sandhu further presented his research publication, “Wheat Fields of Punjab – The Spirit of Visakhi,” which highlights Punjab’s rich agricultural traditions, the life of its people and the historic and enduring connection between the state and the Indian Army.
The meeting also focused on strengthening ties between the armed forces and civil society and preserving India’s rich national heritage.
Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh appreciated Sandhu’s cultural initiatives and honoured him by presenting the official insignia of the Western Command. The insignia represents the Indian Army’s courage, spirit of service and illustrious military history.
