Jalandhar Rural Police have arrested a proclaimed offender wanted in two separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and recovered 100 intoxicating tablets from his possession. The arrest was made by the Phillaur Police during a targeted operation against drug trafficking in the region.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harvinder Singh Virk said the operation was carried out under the supervision of DSP Bharat Masih and SHO Inspector Balwinder Singh Bhullar of Phillaur Police Station. The accused, identified as Happy, a resident of Mohalla Chaudhrian in Phillaur, was taken into custody after police recovered 100 intoxicating pills from him and registered a fresh case under the NDPS Act.

During the investigation, police found that the accused had already been named in two separate NDPS cases and had been declared a Proclaimed Offender (PO) by the court in both matters. Despite being on the run, he allegedly resumed illegal drug trafficking activities.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that he purchased intoxicating tablets at low prices from Ludhiana Railway Station and supplied them across different parts of Phillaur, particularly near the Labour Mandi and outside the Civil Hospital.

Police said he used the proceeds from the illegal trade to fund his own drug addiction. Further investigation is underway to identify his supply network and possible associates.
