Punjab will host a series of large-scale religious and cultural programmes to commemorate the 650th Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji. Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sondh said that 92 special drone shows will be organised across the state as part of the year-long celebrations. The drone shows will begin in September.
Sondh reviewed the preparations during a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Rupnagar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar at the District Administrative Complex in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains joined the meeting online. Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh, Punjab Tourism and Heritage Promotion Board Advisor Deepak Bali and Sant Baba Pradeep Das Ji were also present.
The minister said that more than 500 drones will take part in each show. The 25 to 30-minute presentations will use modern digital technology to showcase the life, Bani and teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji in the night sky. The initiative aims to connect the younger generation with the timeless message of Guru Ravidas Ji.
Sondh directed the Deputy Commissioners to identify suitable locations for the shows and ensure that the public is informed about the date, time and venue well in advance so that maximum devotees can participate.
Four Major Shobha Yatras to Reach Khuralgarh Sahib in November
The minister said that four Shobha Yatras will begin from Kashi, Jammu, Bathinda and Faridkot in November and culminate at the sacred site of Khuralgarh Sahib associated with Sri Guru Ravidas Ji. The Shobha Yatra starting from Kashi will also have an overnight halt in Mohali.
As part of the celebrations, a special documentary based on the life, Bani and teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji has already been screened in around 3,500 villages across Punjab. A fleet of 50 vans is continuously travelling across the state to take the documentary to more villages.
Sondh said that the year-long celebrations will conclude with a three-day special event at Khuralgarh Sahib in December.
He said the government is using modern technology and a wide range of cultural and educational programmes to spread the message and teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji, particularly among the younger generation.
