A bomb scare at Guru Nanak Public School (GNPS) in Ludhiana’s Model Town area triggered panic on Monday after the school administration received a threatening email claiming the campus would be blown up.
Acting swiftly, the school management suspended classes and initiated the safe evacuation of students. Parents were immediately informed and asked to collect their children from the campus. Within a short period, large numbers of parents arrived at the school and took their children home.
The threat prompted a major response from law enforcement agencies. Police teams and security personnel rushed to the school and carried out an extensive search of classrooms, corridors, open areas and other parts of the campus to ensure student safety.
Officials said the threatening email sent to GNPS had also copied two other Ludhiana schools — Spring Dale School and Ryan International School — in the CC field, prompting security agencies to widen their assessment and gather information related to those institutions as well.
Police have launched an investigation to identify the sender and trace the origin of the email. Cyber experts are examining technical details, including the email source and digital trail, to determine whether the threat was genuine or a hoax.
So far, no suspicious object or explosive material has been found during the searches. Authorities, however, are continuing their investigation and maintaining heightened vigilance until all aspects of the threat are thoroughly verified.
School authorities said the decision to suspend classes and send students home was taken purely as a precautionary measure, with student safety remaining the top priority.
